Designing a website and brand identity for new First Nation’s focussed consultancy
On Country Solutions
On Country Solutions is a partnership between Thirriwirri and Astrolabe Group consultancies. The two businesses came together to deliver specialist services in land management and planning, and the preservation and promotion of First Nations culture.
MonkeyBrain Creative worked with the start-up founders to understand their values, cultural perspectives and vision and to turn that into designs and content that reflected their unique mission.
The result is a stunning and website that uses elements of Aboriginal design and that showcases the impressive depth of expertise that On Country Solutions can provide its customers.

Design theme
The On Country Solutions logo uses four circular patterns to represent the four regions of First Nations country that they work across. Red for Australia red centre, green for the bush and grasslands, yellow for sand and blue of water.
Following design workshops and discussions with On Country Solutions team members about the company’s values and goals, this representation of country was used as a design theme throughout the website.
Circles and lines Aboriginal art and design are purposefully irregular and this element continues across the website. The asymmetrical circles frame images or people, culture and country throughout the website. And the four elements of country underpin the Acknowledgement of Country.
The earthy red was chosen as the dominant colour for the website and is used across all pages as the main background colour. This earthy red background makes the website and business memorable and distinct from others.
A shadow animation in the same circle shape gently follows the user’s cursor, ensuring Country is always present.
Unique design and purposeful content
As On Country Solutions was a partnership between two established consultancies, they needed their new brand to be distinct and for their content to clearly articulate their purpose and service suite. In the early days of a new business, this content does not always exist before it is needed and in this case we developed a suite of service descriptions and brand identity elements in the process of designing the website.
Cultural promotion and sensitivities were a priority of design workshop discussions and content iterations, ensuring authentic and culturally appropriate products.
The result is a unique design, concise and purposeful content developed for diverse and esoteric target audiences.
